Zelda paintings raise over $1600 for charity
The Speed Gamers played Legend of Zelda video games for nearly 100 hours from December 13-17 to raise money for Mercy Corps, a non-profit organization currently aiding typhoon victims in the Philippines. I donated two watercolour paintings for a cutthroat auction (wherein all the money is kept regardless of whether the bidder wins or loses).
Many TSG viewers formed teams by putting their donations toward certain people to help them win, as per tradition. The winning bid for the Twilight Princess piece was an amazing $640, with the runner-up at $608. The Wind Waker piece was given away in a raffle where anyone who donated $20 was eligible. The paintings raised a total of $1679. Congratulations to winners Katerina and Blue Blastoise, and big thanks to everyone who donated! And kudos to The Speed Gamers, who ended their marathon a few hours ago after raising over $17,800.
